FORESTHILL UPHILL CHALLENGE 1Mile
Date and Time: (See below for our new course and details)
December 9, 2017
9:00am - 10:00am
Start Location: Click here for map
139 Old Foresthill rd.
Auburn CA 95603
Be part of Auburn's uphill challenge. Climb up to the tallest bridge in California, the Foresthill bridge, 730' feet high.
This 2017 we have an updated course up to the bridge. Due to permitting issues, we are forced to move our course to the one shown below. The exact distance of our new course is now 1 mile, and not 1k, the vertical climb does not change, as well as our star/finish area.
Runners who complete it under 10 minutes will receive a special award, as well as top male and female runners. Awards will also be given to the youngest and wisest (oldest) runner. While the distance is longer, the terrain is more run-able, for that reason we are not updating our 10 minute club standard.
The 2015 and 2016 event was a great success with runners ranging from 8 years of age to 71 years young. Runners under 8 y/o are encouraged to be accompanied by their parent or guardian.
This event is capped to only 100 runners and will sell out as it did the last two years. Register early and secure your spot, as always, we have the best swag, whether you sign up for our 110k or 1mile race, we go out of our way to make you feel appreciated.
Group of up to 25 runners will start every 15 minutes. We will select starting times at random and post them online a few days before the event. They will be posted here and in our facebook event page.
Come out and test yourself or cheer on runners while they scramble their way up the hill. Be aware that while this is a short run, it is a point to point event without shuttle, so you decided to park at the start (bottom) area and then run up, or park at the finish (top) and run back down to the start. All vehicles must be out of the top parking area by 11:30am, otherwise we will lock your vehicle inside 🙂
As always, we will meet at local brewery (TBD) after the race for awards. We will even buy you the first beer (must be of legal drinking age).
Starting times will be selected by our race personnel and posted online a few days before the event. It will be posted here on our website, as well as our facebook page event.
Hiking/Running poles are NOT allowed. That includes any stick, whether is natural or not.
Headphones are NOT allowed during the race.
Costumes are encourage.
Dogs are not allowed on the race course. Spectators must keep their dogs leashed at all times.
Transportation and Parking
There is no shuttles to the start from the finish area. Runners can be dropped off at the start (bottom of the hill) and spectators can then wait for the runner at the finish (top of the hill), or Runners can drive to the finish line area and then hike down to the start. There is a switchback/fire-road all the way to the start. It is about 1 mile down, please plan your time accordingly.
Click here for map to the finish line/parking area. (We reserve the right to make any changes to the parking area, in 2015 we were not able to access the lot because of permitting issues the day before the race. Plenty of parking was available at the bottom of the hill)
